THE VIRTUAL GAME FAIR has launched a new competition for budding country sports authors. We’re looking for storytellers who can capture the ‘giant spirit’ of country sports and the sporting way of life, bringing the place and the experience to life on the page.
If you can recall the great writing of the late Michael F. Twist and Brian Plummer you will know each great storyteller has their own unique voice and we want your voice to come through in your writing. You could choose to share a special country sports experience or perhaps to uncover the true story of a ‘larger than life’ character, something the Irish Country Sports and Country Life magazine’s southern editor, Derek Fanning, excels at. You could even submit a poem; the key requirement of the competition is to bring a country sports experience alive through words.
There are two categories: Adult writing and Children’s writing (under 18 years).
The prizes include a trophy and a choice from a list of sporting /countryside books for both adult and children’s sections plus tickets to the 2021 Game Fair at Shanes Castle. In addition, the winning entries will be published on THE VIRTUAL GAME FAIR site and also published in the Irish Country Sports and Country Life magazine, in both print and digital editions. Winning entries will also be published on social media. This coverage will bring the winning words to over 100,000 readers and viewers.
